Over the course of their four full-length albums to date, including their revelatory 2008 Sub Pop release Furr, the Portland band has already made that much clear. And, Earley’s considerable poetic talents and his band’s hard-earned chops have gained them a growing international audience. Personal Stuff/Why I chose Blitzen Trapper
We're just about to hit our 2 year point in Portland, Oregon, and have really grown to love this part of the country. If you can survive the rainy winter/spring seasons, you are rewarded with beautiful summers and a region where you can drive about 1 or 2 hours and get to almost any outdoor activity imaginable - swimming/surfing/hanging out at the beach, skiing/climbing/hiking in the mountains, the Columbia River Gorge for boating, hiking, waterfalls or more. The food out here is amazing for a mid size city, including the coolest "food cart" scene imaginable. And finally, the people are for the most part, really friendly - not at all like the NY city metro area.

On this note, I hope to do my part in supporting the local music scene here by posting another Portland based band - Blitzen Trapper. I didn't listen to them until a few months ago and literally stumbled upon their CD at the public library (libraries rule, especially for those with little kids!). I was pleasantly surprised with what I heard and am pleased to share them with more people that may not have heard of them before!

Favorite Tracks
I like the fact that most of the tracks are short - 3 min or even less. It works for this kind of music and keeps you wanting to listen again.

My favorite tracks are #1 SleepyTime in the Western World, #3 Furr, #4 God and Suicide, #6 Saturday Nite and #7 Black River Water.
